I have never failed to be amazed at ‘the next best thing’ of the laptop manufacturers and to say I feel flat on seeing the Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Tablet PC is a mild understatement. The latest from Lenovo, the Thinkpad X60 is just 1 inch thick, maybe the size of your average notebook and here by notebook, I don’t mean the computer notebooks, I mean a ‘real’ notebook. Speaking of real notebooks I think Lenovo stretched the boundaries of possibility with this.

But I have been trying to keep up on its features because I have been an orthodox believer in the fact that if it is slim it has nothing in. but no, they have proved me dead wrong. PC Magazine gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars so that should speak for itself but we will just try to cover all its features here.

Multiple Screens You have three cover options - 12. 1" XGA, 12. 1" SXGA+, or MultiView/MultiTouch 12. 1" XGA screens, all with Super Wide Viewing Angle engineering and Anti-Reflective/Anti-Glare coatings. So if you are one to use this in your backyard with the sun shining gloriously, you will still be working comfortably, no glare at all. MultiTouch will let you use the digital pen or your finger if you like simple navigation. The Active Rotate will automatically sense your cover preference and adjust the display so no more manually going from landscape to portrait for viewing anything. As if that wasn’t enough, there are NavDial keys to let you browse through the pages according to their orientations.

Connectivity Options If you want Bluetooth its there, a/b/g WiFi its there, cellular WWAN, 802 11n MiMo, again there! So there are a whole range of connectivity options open as also a modem jack and LAN jack so you can connect one way or the other. They have provided a button that rests near the screen that will let you toggle the wireless options on and off to save battery.

Battery Life Speaking of battery life, you have to first decide which battery you want. Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet offers you a range of batteries to go with the different versions and they outlast their competitors on the same range. They have also provided battery saving options to preserve battery for important tasks.

Miniature Footprint At 10. 8” x 9. 6” x 1. 1-1. 3” you are talking about something the size of a basic spiral notebook and that extra two inches and a little bulk is what comes with the 8 cubicle battery instead of the 4 cubicle option.

Duo Processor X60 Thinkpad Tablet is the Intel Low Voltage Core Duo mainframe that has turned into reality. Up to 4 GB RAM and a 120 GB HDD you will get something smooth and cool. Here I have not even mentioned the 4 USB 2. 0 Ports; parallel and sequential ports, VGA output, Microphone input & earphone production, Stereo speakers, Ethernet and modem pass-through, Cable lock slot and important lock and many more options that you just have to check out for yourself.

The only thing that I find lacking is the optical effort. But that is covered again in their newer ThinkPad X6 Tablet UltraBase. Meanwhile I am drawing some artwork with their wonderful digitizer pen that I have not experienced in any other model. Lenovo has thought of everything with the Thinkpad Tablet and it only gets better from here.
